How to access Live from Covent Garden

Our Live from Covent Garden events are streamed through a service powered by Vimeo. Find out about how to access this service.

What is Vimeo?

These live events are being streamed via a video-hosting site called Vimeo. hosts live performances that cost £4.99 each to watch (the event on Saturday 13 June was a free event). It hosts a library of events too, including those that you have purchased and free events (such as the event on Saturday 13 June), so that you can watch them as many times as you would like over a 14-day period.

How to buy access

You can get access to our Live from Covent Garden events by clicking the Buy Now buttons on the Live from Covent Garden page. These buttons will take you to a check out page where you can create an account and purchase access.

To buy access to these events you will need to make a new account. Through this account you will be able to purchase access to the events on 20 June and 27 June. Once you have created an account, you will be able to purchase multiple products, view the live events, and have access after the live stream has finished. Please note, your Royal Opera House account or membership login details will not work on the ROH streaming site.

It won't take long to create your new ROH streaming account – you can create your account when you purchase your access. Simply put in your email address and create a password with eight or more characters. Then enter your payment details as you would do to purchase any product online.

When you have purchased a ticket, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this, firstly check your junk folder, and then contact the Vimeo help centre.

How to watch the live event

Logging into this new account will give you access to the events that you have purchased. On the day of the event you will need to be logged in to watch the event that you have purchased. Do this by clicking the link you will receive in your confirmation. You can use the link in your payment confirmation and reminder emails from

Alternatively, you can log in with the username and password used to buy access (these are not your usual ROH login details). You should then be able to access the event by using the What's on area of If you are already on the site before the start time (7pm BST), then you may need to refresh the page to launch the event when it starts.

When the stream begins, there will be a period of time when the event is "on air" but only a title image can be seen. This means the event will start imminently. As soon as we begin the live stream, this will disappear automatically. Please be aware that in the unlikely event of technical difficulties, the stream may be disrupted for a short period of time.

How to watch on TV

If you can stream content from your laptop or tablet to your TV via Chromecast or if your smart TV can access the Vimeo app, you should be able to watch the events that way.

How to watch later on

Live from Covent Garden, which was streamed on Saturday 13 June, is available to watch on or Youtube until 26 June 2020. You do not need an account to view this free event.

Events that you have paid for will be available in your library for 14 days after the live event: Live from Covent Garden – 20 June is available until 3 July. Live from Covent Garden – 27 June is available until 10 July.

There will be a delay of approximately one hour after the end of the live event while we upload the recording. Watching after the event will look the same as watching the live event, therefore, the title image may display as above for a short period of time before the performance starts.

Don't worry if you have not yet purchased access to an event – you can do it on the day, up until the start of the performance, or afterwards, at a time of your convenience.

Using the streaming site

The homepage of the ROH streaming site will, like, display the latest event at the top of the page. Other events can be found lower down the page. Information about the events, including casting and running orders, for the 20 June and 27 June can be found by browsing the What's On area. You can also use the search facility to find something specific.
