Thousands In Baltimore Watch Blue Angels’ Incredible Stunts

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Festivities continue in Maryland as we celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Saturday, after days of anticipation, the Blue Angels soared above Fort McHenry.

Monique Griego has more on Saturday’s patriotic events.

Thousands of people showed up to watch the Blue Angels at Fort McHenry. From what we hear, they didn’t disappoint. But the international ships are still drawing huge crowds to the Inner Harbor

All eyes were on the sky Saturday afternoon as thousands of people set focused in on the air above Fort McHenry as the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels Squadron put on a precision show.

The Angels have been roaring around the city for the past few days but that was just practice. Saturday was the real deal.

Spectators showed up hours in advance to get the perfect spot to watch all the dips, nose dives and death-defying stunts.

HerbFm's Very Own  Steve Zulich said during a TV Interview with WJZ TV Tonight  “It was a great show. I’ll be coming back again tomorrow. It was a lot of fun"

But if the planes zoomed by too quick, Martin State Airport is offering a closer look with a festival of modern and historic aircrafts, including the Blue Angels.

“You can’t go anywhere and see this many aircrafts on display and talk to the guys who are actually piloting the aircraft,” Buddy Howard, a Blue Angels fan, said.

“It’s amazing. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen up close,” another Blue Angels fan, Michelle Huggins, said.

While Saturday’s focus shifted to the air, the Inner Harbor was still packed with crowds of people as thousands more showed up to check out the parade of international ships.

Many say the bicentennial Sailabration so far has been a spectacle for the eyes.

The Blue Angels will put on another airshow Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort McHenry. Saturday’s festivities include fireworks at Fort McHenry.
